Questions about privacy

Does this converter keep my images?

No. Your images are decoded and re-encoded inside your browser tab and are never sent to a server, so there is nothing for us to keep. The converted files exist only in the tab's memory until you download them, and they are gone when you close or reload the page. The only things remembered on your device are preferences such as your chosen format and quality, never the images or their file names.

Do I need to log in?

No. There is no account, no sign up and no email address to hand over. Open the page, drop your images in and download the results. The converter is free, with no daily limit and no watermark.

Does it work on a school or work Chromebook without installing anything?

Yes, as long as the page opens in Chrome. Nothing has to be installed: there is no extension, app or plugin, because the conversion runs on the browser's own image engine and WebAssembly. The code for HEIC and AVIF loads from this same site the first time you need it, and converted files are saved wherever your browser puts downloads.
